The magazine of the Central Coast

Our Mission Statement: That all our readers will grow to love the Central Coast and its people just a little more after reading Central Coast Journal each month.

Central Coast Journal, formerly called Journal Plus, is a combination of the SLO County Journal and Plus Magazine. It is the community magazine written for and by the local people of the Central Coast. We pride ourselves in having just the right mix of people and places, business and leisure, past and present, health and fitness. We focus on the local people, community and businesses that make a difference.

It is distributed at several hundred key locations throughout Northern Santa Barbara County and all of San Luis Obispo County. The target audience is age 25 and up.

Message from the publishers, Tom and Julie Meinhold, on Feb. 1, 2019:

Welcome to the inaugural issue of Central Coast Journal (formerly San Luis Obispo County Journal Plus). Why the name change? Since taking over the magazine so many of you asked us what the word “Plus” means. The answer is long and not very interesting. So Julie and I felt it was time for a change.

When we were trying to think of a new name, we had to think about what defines us. We distribute from Santa Maria to Paso Robles, and our writers cover all areas of the Central Coast, so finding a name that fit us wasn’t that hard. I felt right away that we should be Central Coast Journal. The hardest part was obtaining the domain name for it: www.centralcoastjournal.com. But after a little effort, I was able to buy it and here we are: still bringing you all the great stories about the people and places you love.
